DISTRIBUTION: Colombia to the Guianas, N.E. Peru, N.W. Bolivia and C. Brazil; Gorgona Isl. (Colombia).

COMMENT: Formerly included warreni (see Husson, 1978:436), guairae, oris, poliopus, trinitatus, and urichi (see Reig et al., 1980:291-312, in Voronstov and Van Brink, eds., Animal genetics and evolution, Junk, The Hague). Includes cherriei; see Petter, 1978, C. R. Acad. Sci. Paris, ser. D, 287:261-264, and Reig et al., 1980:291-312, in Voronstov and Van Brink, eds., Animal genetics and evolution, Junk, The Hague. Patton and Gardner, 1972, Occas. Pap. Mus. Zool. La. St. Univ., 44, reported the karyotype, from E. Peru.
