DISTRIBUTION: Taiga of Altai Mtns. (U.S. S. R.); probably W. China and N.W. Mongolia.

COMMENT: Bobrinskii et al., 1965 [Key to the Mammals of the U.S. S. R.], Moscow, and Sokolov et al., 1980:38, considered this species distinct, but see Gromov et al., 1963, [Mammal Fauna of the U.S. S. R.], Moscow, 2 vols., and Gromov and Baranova, 1981:111, who included pseudonapaea in betulina .
