Geographical distribution: England (Di Sabatino et al. 2010); France (Lundblad 1956); Iberian Peninsula (Borges et al. 2008; Valdecasas 1988): Portugal (Estremadura and Madeira Island); Spain (Cadiz, Gerona, Madrid); Mediterranean (Di Sabatino et al. 2010), Türkiye (Erman et al. 2010), Iran (Pešić et al. 2004).
Distribution in Portugal: South: Estremadura (Valdecasas 1988), in Sintra-Monserrate Park and Palace (Lundblad 1956); Madeira Island (Borges et al. 2008).
Ecological notes: Freshwater, slow and mid streams, thin water layers(Pešić et al. 2004), with some saltwater influence (Michael 1895) and vicinity of the marine environment.
