Type material: Unknown, possibly lost.

Type locality: Northern Europe (Hermann 1804) .

Geographical distribution: Holarctic, remarkably Europe (Gerecke et al. 2016).

Distribution in Portugal: South: Estremadura (Valdecasas 1988), in Sintra-Monserrate Park and Palace (Lundblad 1956).

Ecological notes: Freshwater (Lundblad 1956), at pools of streams and small habitats with a short temporary water cover; Larval insects hosts: Chironomidae dipterans (Gerecke et al. 2016).

Tiphys torris (Müller, 1776)

Synonym: Hydrachna torris Müller, 1776 (original designation)

Type material: Unknown, possibly lost.

Type locality: Denmark (probably surroundings of Copenhagen) or Norway (Müller 1776) .

Geographical distribution: Palaearctic (Gerecke et al. 2016).

Distribution in Portugal: South: Estremadura (Valdecasas 1988), in Sintra-Monserrate Park and Palace (Lundblad 1956).

Ecological notes: In lentic freshwater ecosystems and small tributaries, including eutrophic, oligotrophic and dystrophic environments (Gerecke et al. 2016).
