Taraxacum sitnjakovense Doll (1978: 634, Plate LXXIII), described as a member of T. sect. Alpina
Type indication:—“Typus: Holotypus im h Doll / Locus typicus: Borovez, am Sessellift, ca. 1700 m. 11. 7. 76. Doll“; also Plate LXXIII: „ Taraxacum sitnjakovense Doll sp. nov. – Holotypus ”.
Type:— Flora von Bulgarien, Rila-Gebirge, Borovez, Sessellift., 11 Jul [19]76. R. Doll [as Taraxacum sintjakovense sp. nov. Holotypus!] (JE, no. det. 19266, holotype) .
Specimens of the OM:—There is a single herbarium specimen under this name; plants on the sheet agree with those photographed on Plate LXXIII. The specimen is a clear holotype.
Conclusion:—Neither the protologue nor the type specimen itself give any hint to the interpretation. The type specimen is of the worst possible quality among thousands of type Taraxacum specimens we have seen during our career (the holotype consists of two independent parts, a late, sciomorphic rosette and a damaged, late, mouldy capitulum). We have no choice other than adding this name among nomina damnabilia.
