Taraxacum fontanosquameum van Soest (1959: 110)
Type:— L, no. det. 19642, holotype (herb. van Soest 19359) !
Doll (1978: 642–643):—“Von uns mehrfach bei der Musalla-Hütte in ca. 2500 m Höhe in grasigen Weiden gesammelt“.
Herbarium voucher specimens:—In the Bulgarian collection in JE, there is a single rich gathering under the name of T. fontanosquameum, divided in two herbarium sheets, labelled: Flora von Bulgarien, Rila-Gebirge, Musalla-Hütte, Weg. 12 Jul [19]76, R. Doll [as Taraxacum fontanosquameum] (JE, no. det. 19263). Sheet I contains three plants in flower (pollen present, irregular). Sheet II bears two plants in flower and with unripe achenes (again, pollen present, irregular). The material became brown but seems to be homogeneous taxonomically.
Interpretation:— Taraxacum fontanosquameum differs substantially in the leaf shape from the Bulgarian plants, and we cannot accept the Bulgarian material as a representative of this taxon.
