Taraxacum crocellum van Soest (1959: 120)

Type:— L 2421!, holotype (herb. van Soest 33800)

Doll (1978: 642):—Listed from Bulgaria without locality specification.

Herbarium voucher specimen:—Under the name T. crocellum, there is a single herbarium specimen from Bulgaria. It is labelled: Flora von Bulgarien, Rila-Gebirge, Musalla-Hütte, ca. 2600 m, Wegrand zum Gipfel. 12 Jul [19]76, R. Doll [as Taraxacum crocellum] (JE, no. det. 19261). There are seven small plants, probably taxonomically homogeneous and relatively satisfactorily developed. Although annotated as being without pollen by R. Doll, they are polliniferous (pollen irregular), stigmas are greenish.

Interpretation:—The plants belong to a species unknown to us. However, we can safely exclude T. crocellum that is characterized (e.g.) by light yellowish stigmas and very narrow petioles.
