Taraxacum ooststroomii van Soest (1966: 461)

Type:— L 2593!, holotype (van Hattum & van Ooststroom 16193)

Doll (1978: 642):—“Wir fanden sie zerstreut um Borovez auf Weiden.“

Herbarium voucher specimen:—There is a single herbarium specimen from Bulgaria, labelled: Flora von Bulgarien, Rila-Gebirge, Borovez, Sessellift, 10 Jul [19]76, R. Doll [as Taraxacum ooststroomii] (JE, no. det. 19064). The herbarium sheet contains five plants, all with achenes, two of them with florets (pollen present, pollen grains iregular in size). The plants are not very well preserved.

Interpretation:—The plants do not represent T. ooststroomii, a species probably confined to the Alps. The Bulgarian specimen belongs to T. sect. Obliqua, the group of T. chrysocephalum, but, due to the imperfect condition, cannot be evaluated in detail.
