1974 Hemicypris anomala (Klie) — Purper & Würdig-Maciel: 73. Material examined: Five females from QH2, one female (ECNU20170418/HN06) dissected; five females and five female valves from WC3, two females (ECNU20170419/HN07–08) dissected.

Dimension: Female, RV, n = 3, length 0.749 –0.915 mm, height 0.402 –0.554 mm; LV, n = 4, length 0.723 –0.869 mm, height 0.426 –0.519 mm.

Description: In dorsal view, RV overlapping LV anteriorly, ventrally and dorsally (Fig. 17A). In lateral view, carapace sub-elliptical. Surface of valves mostly smooth, but LV with area of small pits near anterior margin (Fig. 17B). Greatest height at mid-length. Calcified inner lamella anteriorly wide. Marginal denticles present along anterior and postero-ventral margins of LV (Fig. 17D). Marginal sockets present on anterior and postero-ventral part of RV (Fig. 17C). Natatory setae on A2 long, exceeding tips of terminal claws. Terminal segment of Mx palp spatulalike, and one tooth-bristle on third endite smooth, other with denticles (Fig. 18A). L6 five-segmented, only d1 seta present on basal segment (Fig. 18C). Claw Gp on UR approximately 3/4 length of claw Ga; Seta Sp slightly shorter than claw Gp; Seta Sa shorter than 1/2 length of claw Ga (Fig. 18B). UR attachment simple, and ventral branch well-developed.

Distribution: This species has been found in Malaysia, the Philippines (Victor & Fernando 1981d), India (Victor & Fernando 1979b; Patil & Talmale 2005; Karuthapandi et al. 2014) and provinces in China: Taiwan (Klie 1938b) and Sichuan (Huang 1986). This species was found in Qionghai and Wenchang on Hainan Island.
