Gastrothrips monticola Okajima, 2006: 101 . (nec. Gastrothrips monticola Hood, 1942: 573).

The name monticola is preoccupied by Hood. This genus is a member of the sub-family Idolothripinae .

Etymology. In reference to having character states of compound eyes without prolongation posteriorly, in contrast to compound eyes having posterior prolongation in related species.
