Oryzomys Baird 1857

The genus Oryzomys, that until recently was the most speciose of the tribe Oryzomyini, now comprises five species, O. antillarum (Thomas 1898), O. couesi (Alston 1877), O. dimidiatus (Thomas 1905), O. gorgasi (Hershkovitz 1971), and O. palustris (Harlan 1837) . These species range from North and Central America to northwestern South America (Percequillo 2015f; Voss & Weksler 2009; Weksler et al. 2006). There was cytogenetic information available only for O. couesi and O. palustris .
