Diagnosis. Ariadna levii is similar to A. crassipalpa, A. mollis, A. boesenbergi, A. calilegua, A. changellkuk and A. perkinsi due to the dark abdominal pattern with arrow-shaped marks (Figs 1A‒C, 18A, F, 20A, F, 22A, F, 31A, E, 45A, F, 47A, F, 50A, F), but males differ by the presence of metatarsi I straight with two apophyses: one ventro-prolateral bearing a short and curved macrosetae, and a ventro-retrolateral one, with non-modified macrosetae (Fig. 50C‒E; Grismado 2008, fig. 6H); females are distinguished by the presence of a dorsal lobe longer than the ventral lobe (Fig. 51C‒D).
Description. Male (MACN-Ar 29452). Carapace and chelicerae reddish brown (Fig. 50A). Endites brownish orange; labium dark brownish orange. Sternum brownish orange, with darker margins, marbled with dark pigment, and three pairs of fainted dark marginal areas (Fig. 50B). Palps light orange (Fig. 51A‒B). Legs brownish orange, pairs I‒II darker with dark pigment forming diffuse rings in the distal region of metatarsus (Fig. 50C‒E). Abdomen whitish grey, with a conspicuous dark dorsal pattern comprising arrow-shaped marks (Fig. 50A‒B). Total length 7.24; carapace 3.44 long, 2.24 wide. Palps: tibia incrassated, with the dorso-ventral diameter slightly shorter than the bulb; cymbium with a dorsal chemosensory patch; bulb rounded, mid-portion about two times shorter than the embolus; transition mid-portion/embolus conspicuous; embolus tubular and tapered (Fig. 51A‒B). Legs: robust and densely coated with setae (Fig. 50C‒E); tarsal brush of putative chemosensory setae present in legs I‒III, but reduced. Leg formula: I-II-IV-III. Female (MHNS 836). Coloration of carapace, chelicerae, endites, sternum and abdomen as in male (Fig. 50F‒G). Palps brownish orange, with tibia and tarsus reddish. Legs brownish orange, with pairs I‒II darker. Tibia, metatarsus e tarsus I‒II reddish orange (Fig. 50H‒I). Total length 9.68; carapace 3.6 long, 2.12 wide. Legs: robust and densely coated with setae; legs I‒II with ventro-prolateral and ventro-retrolateral tibial macrosetae of similar size, and metatarsal macrosetae of different sizes (Fig. 50H‒I). Leg formula: I-II-IV-III. Leg measurements: I, femur 2.2, patella 1.12, tibia 1.96, metatarsus 1.68, tarsus 0.56, total 7.52; II, 1.96, 1.04, 1.88, 1.52, 0.52, 6.92; III, 1.6, 0.92, 1.2, 1.12, 0.48, 5.32; IV, 2.0, 1.16, 1.6, 1.28, 0.52, 6.56. Internal genitalia: anterior receptaculum with the glandular ducts plate in the median region (Fig. 51C‒D).
Variation. Male (n=6): Total length 5.08‒7.24; carapace 2.08‒3.72 long, 1.84‒2.28 wide; femur I 2.44‒3.0. Female (n=5): Total length 7.44‒9.68; carapace 3.2‒4.16 long, 1.96‒2.48 wide; femur I 2.04‒2.76.
