General comments for the Neoconocephalus species

This genus is the second most diverse in the Neotropical Region, and has more species considering only Conocephalinae . All species sampled here are associated with the Cerrado formations or areas with grasses inside the Atlantic Forest, near springs, slopes and rivers. During the day the individuals remain inactive, camouflaged in the vegetation, especially grass leaves. The morphology of its wings resembles the leaves of grasses. There are green and brownish individuals, and even in the same species we can find green or brown individuals, so polymorphic species seem to be quite common in this taxon (see Figure 8f –).
