Lestomerus piceipes Villiers, 1949

Original data: “ Type: un ♂ de Andrahomana (Ch. ALLUAUD) au Muséum de Paris ”; “ MADAGASCAR: Andrahimana, dans la région Sud (Ch. ALLUAUD); Békily (A. SEYRIG, en janvier)” (Villiers 1949: 708) .

Types: Holotype ♂: “ TYPE ” // “nov. 01” // “ MUSEUM PARIS MADAGASCAR RÉGION DU SUD ANDRAHOMANA CH. ALLUAUD 1901” // “ Lestomerus piceipes ” [hw Villiers] (Fig. 31).

Paratype 1 ♂: “ PARATYPE ” // “ MADAGASCAR BEKILY REG SUD DE L’ILE” // “MUSÉUM PARIS I.32 A. SEYRIG”.

Type locality: Madagascar: Andrahomana [Southern Madagascar].

Current status: Junior synonym of Lestomerus noctis (Distant, 1902) (Villiers 1968b: 36) .

Remarks: The synonymy proposed by Villiers (1968b) was ignored by Maldonado (1990: 360) who listed Lestomerus piceipes as a valid species.

The type locality is spelled in two ways: “Andrahomana” and “Andrahimana”. According to Viette (1991) the first spelling is correct.
