Type: — JAMAICA. Blue Mountains, Underwood 1511 (holotype NY!) .
Distribution and ecology: —Endemic to the Greater Antilles (Cuba, Jamaica, Hispaniola) where it is common in open habitats in humid montane forests at 1400–2000 m.
