Sarcophaga bomplandi Hall, 1937: 373 . Type locality: Argentina, Misiones, Bonpland. Holotype male and allotype female in NHMUK (not examined).

bonplandi: Lopes (1969: 53), incorrect subsequent spelling of bomplandi Hall, 1937 .

Remarks. Sarcophaga bomplandi Hall, 1937 was listed as a “Generically unplaced species of Sarcophaginae ” by Pape (1996: 441). The original description provides no illustrations and the male holotype has not been studied by subsequent authors. Nigel Wyatt (NHMUK) kindly informed us that the holotype is in fair to good condition and has the average size and type of terminalia fitting a species of Oxysarcodexia . He also informed us that the thorax is yellowish-gray pollinose, the abdomen silvery-gray pollinose and without contrasting golden pollinose areas and the terminalia black; the genitalia of the holotype are partly exposed and the cercus has a small backwardly-directed spine at the tip.
