Oxysarcodexia flavifrons (Macquart, 1846)

Sarcophaga flavifrons Macquart, 1846: 319 . Type locality: Brazil. Syntype female in NHMUK (not examined), other syntypes not located.

Remarks. Described from an unspecified number of males and females from the former Bigot collection, most of which appear to have been misplaced or lost. Aldrich (1930: 23) only recovered “One female, Brazil ” in NHMUK. This female was the one also examined by Brauer (1898: 513), and although he did not annotate the specimen with the indication “type”, as generally done in his list of identifications of the Oestroidea when a specimen was considered a type (see Pape 2008, fig. 1), we consider this specimen to be a syntype.
