Description of Kitasatospora paranensis NU 4Y-9-4

Cells are Gram­staining­positive, non­flagellated and coccus­shaped. Colonies are circular, dry, flat and browncolored after 3 days on ISP4 at 30°C. Positive for gelatinase and β­galactosidase in API 20NE but negative for nitrate reduction, indole production, glucose fermentation, arginine dihydrolase, urease and esculin hydrolysis. D-Glucose, L-arabinose, D-mannitol, D-mannose, Nacetyl-glucosamine, D-maltose, gluconate, adipate, malate, citrate and phenylacetate are utilized. Does not utilize caprate. Strain NU 4Y-9-4 (= NIBRBA0000114875) has been isolated from ginseng soil, Anseong, Korea.
