Imbribryum subapiculatum (Hampe) D.Bell & Holyoak

RECORDED ON THE FALKLAND ISLANDS AS. — Bryum subapiculatum Hampe.

NOTES

A common northern hemisphere species that also occurs in Tasmania, New Zealand, and South Africa. The species is absent from the subantarctic islands. Imbribryum subapiculatum includes significant morphological variation in the southern hemisphere. The New Zealand species Bryum duriusculum Hook.f. & Wilson may be the same as I. subapiculatum, and has priority, but more work is needed (cf. Fife 2015). A transitional bipolar/southern pantemperate species.
