Melitaea ornata Christoph, 1893

—In Montenegro, this species was first recorded by Russell (2015) who collected several specimens in the vicinity of Cetinje. The identification of the sampled specimens was based on wing morphology and genitalia dissection. An attempted breeding experiment was unsuccessful and no molecular analysis was completed, but some photos of the genitalia dissection were presented in the article written by Russell. The species was also reported from Croatia (Koren & Štih 2013), with one record close to the Montenegrin border. In addition, Toth et al. (2013) indicated that the potential distribution of M. ornata includes also Montenegro.
