Colias erate (Esper, 1805)
—The species was reported for the first time in Montenegro by Sobczyk & Gligorović (2016). In order to verify this record, the author contacted Mr. Sobczyk who kindly provided photographs of the two specimens identified as C. erate, which turned out to actually be specimens of C. crocea f. helice. Owing to this unfortunate error, C. erate is not included in the current list of the butterflies of Montenegro. Its presence, however, cannot be completely discarded, especially in the northern parts of the country. The species is widespread in Serbia, mainly in northern areas (Miljević & Popović 2014) where it can be abundant (Franeta pers. obs.), while it has not been reported from Bosnia and Herzegovina (Lelo 2016) or Albania (Verovnik & Popović 2013).
