Stegobium paniceum (Linnaeus, 1758)

Materials examined. Constanța County: “Dunele Marine de la Agigea” Nature Reserve, 44.0876°N / 28.6422°E, 22.I.2024, found dead inside building, Alexandru-Mihai Pintilioaie leg. (1 specimen), AMPC .

Remarks. Cosmopolitan species of cryptogenic origin (Tomov et al. 2009). It was recorded in Romania before 1912 (Petri 1912). This species feeds on a wide range of plant and animal-based products, and it is a potentially serious pest in museums, where it can damage historic books, animal collections and dried plants (Querner et al. 2019).
