Ecology: found as pioneer species in Casuarina forest, Podocarpus-Eugenia forest, montane forests, thickets, grassy areas, along ravines, on riverbanks; in sand, loam, marl; elevation: 350–2,400 m (Esser 1997).

Distribution: E Java, Lesser Sunda Islands (Esser 1997).
