Distribution. Western Atlantic—Florida, Yucatan, West Indies, Central America, northern South America, and Brazil (Rio Grande do Norte and Bahia) (Chace 1972; Christoffersen 1979; both as Thunor rathbunae (Schmitt, 1924); Bezerra & Almeida 2008, as A. simus).
