REMARKS: Alien species in the Mediterranean with Eastern Pacific origin (Zenetos et al. 2010). The species was originally described from Acapulco, Western Mexico (Rioja 1942) as Spirorbis (Pileolaria) . It was recorded in the Mediterranean Sea for the first time in a harbour of the western basin (Zibrowius & Bianchi 1981). Nowadays its distribution is considered to be circumglobal in the Northern Hemisphere (Rzhavsky 2010). These are the first records from the Adriatic Sea.
