Current status: Lixus tenuirostris Boheman, 1842 is a junior synonym of L. siculus Boheman, 1835 .
Type. In Schoenherr’s collection at SMNH, under the name “ Tenuirostris, Schh., 12, Bhn.” is a female (pinned through the right elytron by a large pin, elytra separated, head missing) bearing the handwritten label: “Sicila, Bibron”, and fitting the description with type locality as Sicilia. It is here designated as lectotype and with “ Lectotypus, Ƥ, Lixus tenuirostris Boh., Gültekin des. 2006”, “ Lixus siculus Boh. Gültekin det. 2006”.
Remarks. The lectoype of this species is a slightly larger specimen than the lectotype of Lixus siculus Boh. In spite of lacking head and rostrum, it is still possible to recognize this specimen as L. siculus . Capiomont (1874) first established Lixus tenuirostris Boheman as a synonym of L. siculus Boheman.
