Current status: Lixus incanescens Boheman, 1835 is a valid species.
Type. In Schoenherr’s collection at SMNH, under the name “ Incanescens, Schh., 117–167, Bhn.” is a female pinned through the right elytron bearing the handwritten labels: “ Persia, Falderm.”, and fitting the description with type locality as Persia. It is here designated as lectotype with: “ Lectotypus, Ƥ, Lixus incanescens Boh., Gültekin des. 2006”.
Remarks. According to the description, syntype (s) should be present in the Steven’s collection at Moscow, but they could not be traced. Lixus incanescens is closely related to Lixus subtilis but differs by the smaller punctation on pronotum and shape of aedeagus at apex.
