Material examined

1 colony, polyp, without gonophores; El Mogote Sand Bar, La Paz Bay, Baja California Sur, 24.159°N, 110.341°W; depth 0–2 m; 1 July 2019; on barnacle; ECO-CH-Z 11800 .

Description (after Calder 1988)

Colony erect, hydrocaulus monosiphonic, irregularly branched; branches partly adnate to hydrocaulus. Perisarc pedicel terminating abruptly below hydranth.

Distribution

This constitutes a new record of the genus Corydendrium for the west coast of the Gulf of California . In the Mexican Pacific, three species of the genus have been recorded, C . flabellatum in Nayarit and Jalisco (Fraser 1938a), C. fruticosum in Baja California (Fraser 1948), and C. parasiticum in Sinaloa (Alvarez-León and Wedler 1982).
