A male specimen was designated as the holotype by Murayama (1995), and the specimen was retrieved in LBM (Figs. 28–30; Dried Insect Database Reg. no. 1500022025).

Huang & Zhan (2004) treated dianchiana as a synonym of Thoressa baileyi (South, 1913), and we follow their treatment. As mentioned above, we consider baileyi a species of Pedesta .
