Osmylochrysa Jepson et al., 2012
Type species. Osmylochrysa anomala Jepson et al., 2012: 39 (by original designation).
Diagnosis. Forewing oval, relatively small; subcostal area with several sc-r crossveins at least in basal half of wing (preserved in O. anomala); RP with at least two branches (likely more), RP1 originating relatively close to origin of RP (only one ra-rp crossvein in this part of the wing); M fork basal to origin of first branch of RP and close to origin of RP; MA and MP branching pattern unknown; CuA and CuP with relatively few pectinate branches; A1 pectinately branched; crossveins scarce in proximal half of the wing. Hind wing unknown.
Comments. The genus is only known from a few fragmentary forewings and the placement in Gumillinae is tentative based on general appearance rather than identification of synapomorphies characteristic of the subfamily. The diagnosis here is based largely on O. anomala, as the specimen of O. fragilis is only known from a smaller wing fragment. Osmylochrysa displays a remarkable similarity in wing venation with Allotriosmylus and may indicate some relationship, although this could easily be convergence as both have highly reduced venation, likely associated with the small size of the wings (ca. 10 mm). Osmylochrysa is easily distinguished from all other gumilline genera by the multiple subcostal crossveins and from Allotriosmylus by the multiple branches of RP.
