Euosmylus Krüger, 1913a
(Fig. 12)
Type species. Stenosmylus stellae McLachlan, 1899: 259 (by monotypy) (New Zealand) .
Diagnosis. Relatively small robust species; wings falcate, markings variable, hyaline to strongly patterned, contrasted dark areas with pale fenestrate areas; FW costal area relatively narrow, subcostal veinlets mostly simple, rarely forked; numerous branches of RP (10–12), outer gradate series present, extending from MA to pterostigma in both wings; FW M fork level with origin of RP2; HW intramedial area expanded, but less than in other genera, cells between them quadrate and crossveins not sinuous; female genitalia with spermatheca constricted, hour-glass shaped.
Comments. Closely related to Kempynus, Euosmylus is a monotypic genus endemic to New Zealand which has very similar shaped male and female genitalia and wing venation. Euosmylus stellae is a relatively small, but robust species with distinctively patterned wings.
