Jurosmylus Makarkin & Archibald, 2005
(= Mesosmylus Panfilov, 1980: 99 . Type species: Mesosmylus atalantus Panfilov, 1980: 99) (preoccupied)
Type species. Mesosmylus atalantus Panfilov, 1980: 99 (by original designation).
Diagnosis. Wings narrowly ovoid, FW costal area relatively narrow, subcostal veinlets simple proximally, and more closely spaced and sometimes forked at mid-length; RP with 6–18 branches; RP1 originating relatively close to origin of RP, three distinct gradate series, sometimes with very few irregular crossveins basal to these; M fork at or distal to origin of RP1; MA and MP with few dichotomous branches distally; FW with CuA and CuP with similar number dichotomous branches; A1 strongly pectinate (4–6 branches); HW unknown.
Comments. Jurosmylus was proposed by Makarkin & Archibald (2005) as a replacement name since Mesosmylus Panfilov, 1980 was preoccupied by Mesosmylus Krüger, 1913c . The forewing venation of Jurosmylus is very similar to that of Juraheterosmylus and Protosmylus .
