Clypeus with hairs directed medially; frons with plumose, thin, white hairs with similar length, directed dorsally (Fig. 7 A); pronotal lobe on posterior area of carina with thin, white hairs; scutum and disc of mesepisternum with simple, short, golden on its entire surface; anterior and posterior margin of mesepisternum with few plumose, thin, short, scattered, white hairs; disc of metepisternum without appressed tuft thick, short hairs; tergal fasciae of thick hairs, present from T 1 to T 3; T 4 to T 6 with simple, thick, sparse, short, white hairs in punctures (Fig. 7 B). Terminalia. S 5 slightly bilobated with two subtriangular lobes on posterior margin, and a line of capitate hairs directed to sides, with transverse line of preapical hairs, thin and amber (Fig. 7 E); S 6 with acute apex, without blackened preapical margin, with two submarginal lines with few capitate, long, thick, hairs, with same length; genital capsule in dorsal view, 1.2 mm length and 0.5 mm width (2.5 times longer than wide) (Fig. 7 F); gonobase 0.08 mm length, of 5.6 times wider than long, and gonocoxite 0.4 mm length; gonostylus 1.1 mm length with rounded apex; penis valve 0.7 mm length (Fig. 7 G). Males of this species are similar to H. viridiana sp. nov., but can be recognized by having black flagellum, process of S 1, in posterior view, with rounded corners, similar to two cusps on top, and in tufts and pubescence of apical margin of S 5 and S 6. We used location data to establish the female of this species. Males with S 5 and S 6 similar to H. micropthalma Michener, 1954, H. texana, H. leavitti, H. cristina sp. nov., H. vulcanica sp. nov., but can be recognize by other external characteristics presented in the diagnosis. In Michener (1938), Fig. 20 of S 6 belongs to H. variolosa (Cresson, 1872) and not H. crucifera. This species was previously registered as present in Panamá and Costa Rica, but here we extend the distribution northwards to South Mexico, in the Pacific slope along the coast of Oaxaca and Chiapas, areas with tropical dry forest, basically in the Pacific Lowlands biogeographic province (Morrone et al. 2022), and also south to Colombia with the synonymy of H. tayrona. There are also records from Cuba and The Española Island, but these females registered likely are a new species yet to be described (Fig. 14). The holotype female of H. currani has small tubercles on apical margin of clypeus, however there is variation in the size, as well as, on outer surface of mandible in females, and small differences in the tubercle on the basal point of outer ridge. Also, there are small differences in the width and length of the hairs in the tergal fasciae. In males, S 5, S 6 and the genital capsule are similar to H. tayrona Gonzalez & Griswold, 2011, described from northern Colombia. This species is mainly present in the United States and Canada; however, we found records that extend the distribution to Mexico, along the Gulf of Mexico slope and Yucatán Peninsula. The records of Quintos-Andrade, et al. (2023) of H. variolosa from Mexico, Veracruz, Coatepec and Xalapa belongs to H. leavitti. These areas correspond to the Sierra Madre Oriental, Veracruzan and Yucatán Peninsula biogeographic provinces (Morrone et al. 2022) (Fig. 18). It was not possible to add more morphological information of female as there was just one specimen.
