The species has an Atlantic-Circum-Mediterranean distribution (HECKMANN et al., 2015; DUSOULIER, 2020; AUKEMA, 2024). So far, in Macaronesia  M. fossularum has been reported from the island of Madeira (Portugal) (RIBES &amp; HEISS, 2008; AUKEMA, 2024).</p><p>Herein, the first record of  M. fossularum in the Canary Islands (Spain) is reported:  On 13-08- 2024, a specimen of this species was found in the village of Santa Úrsula, located in the north-western part of the island of Tenerife.
