Distinguished among species of Voragocoris by the male-specific organ orifice on frons almost elliptical with a rounded setose cavity on the upper portion (Fig. 2A–B). Sternum 6 without a median patch of long setae (Fig. 2C). Sternum 7 with a middle line conspicuous triangular projection in the posterior margin projected over pygophore (Figs 1E–F; 2C; 3B). Mediotergite 8 narrowed with hooked process bent over itself and strongly directed to right side in dorsal view (Fig. 3A). Pygophore cavity rounded and large (Figs 2C; 2E; 3B). Aedeagus without processes (Fig. 3A).

Description. Male (Figs 1–3). Small, macropterous, body elongate ovoid. COLORATION. General coloration pale brown, appendages yellowish, and white fascia on corium and clavus. SURFACE AND VESTITURE. Vertex and frons covered with dense microtrichia and sparse, long setae, except for the bare elliptical muscle scars near the male-specific organ (Fig. 2A). Male-specific organ with a cluster of small setae laterally and a rounded setose cavity on the upper portion (Figs 2A–B). Clypeus with symmetrical pattern of sparse long setae distributed in the upper and lower regions. Patches of rounded hair-like sensillae on the midline of sterna 4–5 (Figs 2C–D; 3B), sternum 6 without a median patch of long setae (Fig. 2C). Ventral portion of pygophore densely covered with small setulae and long setae, (Fig. 2C) STRUCTURE. Head with frons slightly curved in lateral view (Fig. 1C), with small depression corresponding to male-specific organ that is located almost in the middle of frons (Fig. 1D); male-specific organ orifice elliptical and relatively large with a secondary smaller orifice below; thorax and pregenital abdomen as in generic description (see Weirauch 2012). GENITALIA (Figs 1E–F; 2C–E; 3). Mediotergite 8 narrowed with hooked process bent over itself and strongly directed to right side in dorsal view. Pygophore rounded posteriorly, pygophore cavity rounded and large. Anophore well-developed and sclerotized, clubbed. Right paramere elongate and tapering toward the apex, strongly arched, with few long setae in left lateral margin. Left paramere small, wider than long, with waved posterior margin. Anal tube membranous, large, and rounded. Aedeagus elongate and coiled, with simple tip (without processes).

Female. Unknown.

Etymology. Named in honor of Jarilson Garcia Vilar, who collected the specimens utilized in the description of the new species.

Distribution. BRAZIL (Pará).

Comments. Despite the morphological resemblance among the described species of Voragocoris, the structure of the male-specific organ, pregenital abdomen, and male genitalia play a crucial role in distinguishing species within this genus.

To date, only two species of Voragocoris have been documented in Brazil, specifically in the Brazilian Amazon: V. weirauchae and the newly described V. jarilsoni sp. nov. These two Brazilian species can be easily distinguished by some morphological features. Voragocoris weirauchae possesses a median patch of long setae on sternum 6, which is absent in V. jarilsoni sp. nov. Additionally, the sternum 7 in V. weirauchae lacks projections, whereas in V. jarilsoni sp. nov., it bears a distinct median triangular projection on the posterior margin, a feature not observed in any other known Voragocoris species. The pygophore cavity also differs significantly, being narrow and elongated in V. weirauchae, but large and rounded in V. jarilsoni sp. nov. Lastly, the orifice of the male-specific organ on frons is small and concealed by a pair of lobed and dorsally flattened projections in V. weirauchae, whereas in V. jarilsoni sp. nov., it is larger and lacks any covering projections.

https://treatment.plazi.org/id/3E6135042101FFCDFF37FF62FCBA47D8	Public Domain	No known copyright restrictions apply.
