Male. Body small. Head. Fastigium verticis conical, with longitudinal sulcus on dorsum, apex rounded. Eyes ovoid, slightly protruding forwards and outwards. Apical segment of maxillary palpus faintly longer than subapical one, apex slightly inflated. Thorax. Anterior margin of pronotum straight, posterior margin rounded (Fig. 1A); lateral lobe longer than high, humeral sinus absent. Thoracic auditory spiracle exposed completely, peanutshaped (Fig. 1B). Tegmina and wings. Tegmina long, surpassing apices of hind femora, apices rounded; hind wings longer than tegmina. Legs. All femora without spines on ventral surfaces. Fore coxa with 1 spine, fore tibial tympana open on both sides, fore tibia with 4 pairs of long spines and 1 pair of short apical spurs on ventral surface. Middle tibia with 4 external and 3 internal long spines on ventral surface, with 1 pair of short ventral apical spurs. Hind tibia with 34–37 short spines on both sides of dorsal surface separately, bearing 1 pair of dorsal apical spurs and 2 pairs of ventral apical spurs. Abdomen. Basal third of tenth abdominal tergite broad, following area toward middle area narrowing; apical half narrow, and apical area extending with a median longitudinal sulcus (Fig. 1C); dorsal apex of lateral lobe strongly raised, other area expanded downwards, compressed, apex rounded (Fig. 1E). Cercus stout at base, inner margin near base with a broad, short rectangular lamellar expansion on ventral surface (Fig. 1D); near middle area on intero-dorsal surface with an incurved, long and narrow lamellar process (Fig. 1C); apical half strongly incurved, apex rounded (Fig. 1D). Apex of genitalia sclerotized, lamellate, posterior margin rounded. Subgenital plate with basal half broad, apical half narrowing, posterior margin rounded. Styli conical, inserted on lateral margins of subapical area of subgenital plate (Fig. 1D).</p><p>Female. Cercus short, conical. Ovipositor slightly upcurved, basal area stout; dorsal and ventral margins smooth, dorsal valve slightly longer than ventral one, apex acute; ventral valve with a feeble hook at apex (Fig. 1I). Subgenital plate with basal half broad, apical half narrowing, apex rounded (Fig. 1G).</p><p>Coloration. Body yellowish brown. Dorsal surface of head with 4 indistinct longitudinal dark brown stripes. Eyes brown. Antennal scape and pedicel dark brown, first flagellum dark brown, remaining flagellum weak yellow. Disc of pronotum with a broad longitudinal brown stripe, posterior area of metazona yellowish brown. Hind femur with a narrow transverse brown stripe at base and a broad transverse brown stripe in middle area (Fig. 1H).</p><p>Material examined. Holotype: ♂, Nonggang, Longzhou, Guangxi, 31 July, 2018, collected by Qidi Zhu. Paratype: 1♀, same data as holotype .</p><p>Measurements (mm). Body length: ♂ 9.5, ♀ 11.0; pronotum length: ♂ 3.8, ♀ 3.5; tegmen length: ♂ 17.0, ♀ 18.2; hind femur length: ♂ 11.3, ♀ 12.1; ovipositor length: 9.5.</p><p>Etymology. The new species name refers to base of male cercus with rectangular lamellar expansion on inner margin of ventral surface, Latin rectangulatus means rectangular.</p><p>Discussion. The new species is very similar to Xizicus (Xizicus) daedalus Gorochov, 2011, but differs in morphology of male tenth abdominal tergite and shape of male cercus.</p><p>Distribution. The original description of this species is comprehensive. It is reported for the first time from China. Male. Body small. Head. Fastigium verticis conical, with longitudinal sulcus on dorsum, apex rounded. Eyes ovoid, protruding forwards and outwards. Apical segment of maxillary palpus faintly longer than subapical one, apical area slightly inflated. Thorax. Anterior margin of pronotum straight, posterior margin rounded, metazona slightly raised; lateral lobe longer than high, humeral sinus obvious (Fig. 3A–B).</p><p>Tegmina and wings. Tegmina long, surpassing apices of hind femora, apices rounded; hind wings longer than tegmina. Legs. All femora without spines on ventral surfaces. Fore coxa with 1 spine, fore tibial tympana open on both sides, fore and middle tibiae with 4 pairs of long spines and 1 pair of short apical spurs on ventral surfaces respectively. Hind tibia with 22–24 short spines on both sides of dorsal surface separately, bearing 1 pair of dorsal apical spurs and 2 pairs of ventral apical spurs.</p><p>Abdomen. Tenth abdominal tergite slightly extending backwards, posterior margin feebly concave. Basal half of cercus stout; apical half depressed, slightly incurved, dorsal surface near inner margin with a longitudinal carina; apex obliquely truncate (Fig. 3C–E). Subgenital plate with base broad, narrowing, apical area narrow, posterior margin rounded. Styli short, conical, inserted on lateral margins of subapical area of subgenital plate (Fig. 3F).</p><p>Female. Cercus conical. Ovipositor moderately upcurved; dorsal valve slightly longer than ventral one, apex acute; base of ventral valve with a semicircular expansion on ventral surface, followed with a triangular lamellar expansion, apex hook-shaped (Fig. 3H). Subgenital plate narrow at base, middle area broad, apical half narrowing, apex upcurved (Fig. 3G).</p><p>Coloration. Body yellowish green. Tegmina with brown spots. Dorsal surface of head with 4 indistinct longitudinal dark brown stripes. Disc of pronotum with a broad longitudinal brown stripe from prozona to anterior area of metazona, lateral margins dark brown, posterior area of metazona brown. Genicular lobes of hind femur dark brown. Spines and spurs of hind tibia dark brown.</p><p>Material examined. The new species is similar to Xizicus (Haploxizicus) szechwanensis (Tinkham, 1944), but differs in the following: male cercus with basal half stout, apical half depressed, slightly incurved, bearing a longitudinal carina near inner margin of dorsal surface; apex obliquely truncate. Female subgenital plate narrow at base, middle area broad, apical half narrowing, apex upcurved; base of ventral valve with a semicircular expansion on ventral surface, followed with a triangular lamellar expansion.</p><p>Etymology. The new species name is derived from apical half of male cercus with a longitudinal carina on dorsal surface near inner area, Latin carin- means carina, caudatus means caudate.</p><p>Distribution. Female. Body small. Head. Fastigium verticis conical, with longitudinal sulcus on dorsum, apex rounded. Eyes ovoid, protruding forwards and outwards. Apical segment of maxillary palpus faintly longer than subapical one, apical area slightly inflated. Thorax. Anterior margin of pronotum straight, posterior margin rounded; lateral lobe longer than high, humeral sinus absent (Fig. 4A–B).</p><p>Tegmina and wings. Tegmina short, completely covered by pronotum, invisible in lateral view. Hind wings absent. Legs. All femora without spines on ventral surfaces. Fore coxa with 1 spine, fore tibial tympana open on both sides, fore tibia with 5 pairs of medium-long spines and 1 pair of short apical spurs on ventral surface. Middle tibia with 5 external and 4 internal medium-long spines on ventral surface, with 1 pair of short ventral apical spurs. Hind tibia with 26–32 short spines on both sides of dorsal surface separately, bearing 1 pair of dorsal apical spurs and 2 pairs of ventral apical spurs. Abdomen. Lateral areas of ninth abdominal tergite extending backwards, ventral margin of base bearing a short process with rounded apex. Posterior margin of tenth abdominal tergite concave; epiproct with posterior margin rounded. Cercus conical (Fig. 4C). Ovipositor broad and short, dorsally curved; dorsal margin with fine serrations in middle area, ventral margin of apex with fine serrations (Fig. 4E). Subgenital plate with basal margin slightly concave and base broad; narrowing; posterior margin faintly concave in the middle (Fig. 4D).</p><p>Coloration. Body yellowish brown. Eyes brown. Dorsum of head with 3 broad longitudinal dark brown stripes. Disc of pronotum with a broad longitudinal brown stripe. Dorsal surface of abdomen brown, ventro-lateral surface dark brown. Outer surface of hind femur with some parallel transverse brown stripes, genicular lobes of hind femur blackish brown, spines and spurs of hind tibia brown.</p><p>Material examined. Holotype: ♂, Yangmeiao, Rongshui, Guangxi, 9 August, 2015, collected by Baojie Du. Other specimens: 1♂ 2♀, Yangmeiao, Rongshui, Guangxi, 7 August, 2019, collected by Lixuan Chen and Lidan Zhang ; 1♂ 1♀, Jiuwanshan, Rongshui, Guangxi, 22 July, 2023, collected by Wenqing Lv.</p><p>Measurements (mm). The species was described based on a single male specimen (holotype) from the type locality, Yangmeiao, Rongshui, Guangxi. In recent years, we collected additional specimens of the species from the type locality. These include both male and female specimens. One male is illustrated from a specimen preserved in alcohol (Fig. 5).</p><p>Distribution.
