03FF87EB4D7CFFA1FF700BDDFC5D7E3F.taxon	discussion	Remark. Uchida (1924) described a Japanese male from Hokkaido as Aethecerus parianae. We have not seen the type material yet, but the new species differs from the original description of Ae. paranae (Uchida, 1924: 232) by its ivory face and hind coxa, and the ivory marks on the mesosoma.	en	Riedel, Matthias, Watanabe, Kyohei (2025): Contribution to the Ichneumoninae (Hymenoptera, Ichneumonidae) of the Ryukyu Archipelago, Japan. 03FF87EB4D7BFFABFF700D20FB057DEF.taxon	discussion	Remarks. Due to the Coelichneumon - like form of propodeum, globose and carinated scutellum, rhombic areolet and antefurcal vein 1 cu-a, finely aciculate postpetiole and large thyridia, we include this new species in the genus Alystria Cameron here (for a description of this genus see Heinrich 1970: 96 – 97). It differs from A. curvilineata Cameron, 1904 by its wider temple, larger thyridia, ivory bands of all tergites and black hind tarsus.	en	Riedel, Matthias, Watanabe, Kyohei (2025): Contribution to the Ichneumoninae (Hymenoptera, Ichneumonidae) of the Ryukyu Archipelago, Japan. 03FF87EB4D77FFAFFF700D86FB0B7DEF.taxon	discussion	Remarks. The males from Yakushima differ from the original description of Bystra kusukusensis (Uchida, 1929) by a completely red stemmaticum and red hind leg. The presence of weak impressions of 2 nd tergite resembles the genus Darymna Cameron but we do not formally transfer this species to Darymna here since the taxonomy of the Oriental genera of the Ichneumoninae related to Bystra needs a comprehensive modern revision.	en	Riedel, Matthias, Watanabe, Kyohei (2025): Contribution to the Ichneumoninae (Hymenoptera, Ichneumonidae) of the Ryukyu Archipelago, Japan. 03FF87EB4D6CFFB0FF700D4EFB697859.taxon	discussion	Remarks. This species is closely related to the European Heresiarches eudoxius (Wesmael, 1845) (Table 1) and might represent an East Palaearctic subspecies of H. eudoxius. The small Taiwanese male described as Heresiarches minor Riedel, 2013 largely resembles the male of H. japonicus sp. nov. by its color pattern but differs by much smaller size (body length 6 mm).	en	Riedel, Matthias, Watanabe, Kyohei (2025): Contribution to the Ichneumoninae (Hymenoptera, Ichneumonidae) of the Ryukyu Archipelago, Japan. 03FF87EB4D68FFB5FF700974FCB17CCF.taxon	discussion	Remark. The species is closely related to the widely distributed Lissosculpta albopicta Horstmann, 2001 (new name for L. albatorius Fabricius preocc.) but differs by the partly infuscate hind femur and hind tibia, entirely black 5 th tergite and absence of ivory flagellar ring in ♂. Lissosculpta javanica (Cameron, 1905) was also reported from the Ryukyus (Uchida 1926, 1956, Momoi 1970) but differs by a different carination of propodeum (e. g. area basalis and superomedia confluent and narrow, see Uchida 1932: Fig. 1), black instead of red hind coxa and an ivory apical band of 5 th tergite. It is possible that these reports are misidentifications of L. glaucosignata (Heinrich).	en	Riedel, Matthias, Watanabe, Kyohei (2025): Contribution to the Ichneumoninae (Hymenoptera, Ichneumonidae) of the Ryukyu Archipelago, Japan. 03FF87EB4D61FFBDFF700CD4FC087BE7.taxon	discussion	Remarks. The females from Tokunoshima and Amamioshima islands have mainly reddish 2 nd and 3 rd tergites and reddish fore and mid femora and tibiae. In the females from Okinawa, basal tergites are blackish, fore and mid femora and tibiae brownish, and in one small female face and frons completely black. Since the structure is similar in all these females, we did not separate these forms as different species here.	en	Riedel, Matthias, Watanabe, Kyohei (2025): Contribution to the Ichneumoninae (Hymenoptera, Ichneumonidae) of the Ryukyu Archipelago, Japan. 03FF87EB4D5DFF81FF700AF5FCD77B17.taxon	discussion	Remarks. This species seems to be very abundant in Yakushima at different altitudes. The extensive ivory coloration is variable and sometimes distinctly reduced in males from several collection sites: stripes of pronotum and mesopleuron, scutellum, propodeum and coxae black, but hind trochanter yellow. The strongly lanceolate flagellum of females resembles the genus Melanichneumon Thomson but the form of area superomedia, subtegular ridge and thyridia of males are typical for Vulgichneumon Heinrich.	en	Riedel, Matthias, Watanabe, Kyohei (2025): Contribution to the Ichneumoninae (Hymenoptera, Ichneumonidae) of the Ryukyu Archipelago, Japan. 03FF87EB4D54FF8AFF70088DFD4A7A5B.taxon	distribution	Distribution. Japan (Yakushima Isl.), Far East Russia and Korea. New record for Japan. Species diversity and distribution pattern of Ichneumoninae in the Ryukyu Archipelago The results of this study have increased the number of species of Ichneumoninae in the Ryukyu Archipelago from only 27 previously recorded to 45, an increase of about 1.7 times (Table 2). However, this number is less than 20 % of the total number of species in Japan, indicating that the number of species in this area is relatively low. This may be due to the effect of the relatively small area size of the islands in this archipelago. Table 3 arranges the islands in the order of the number of Ichneumonine species in Table 2 and notes the area and highest altitude of each island. Although the area and maximum altitude of the islands appear to be related to the number of species, there are some survey biases, such as ease of access and the presence or absence of comprehensive sampling (e. g. Malaise trap), which require further investigation in the future. It should be noted that the number of Ichneumonine species on Yakushima is prominent compared to other islands and has a higher number of species than Amamioshima and Okinawajima, where survey accuracy is similarly high. This is probably due to its proximity to Kyushu and its elevation above 1900 m, which is much higher than the other islands in the Ryukyu Archipelago. Discussion of the endemism of individual species is difficult with the current accuracy of survey. Although a number of new species have been described from Yakushima in this study, Ichneumoninae are also poorly studied in Japan as a whole, and some of these species may be found in other parts of Japan, such as Kyushu (especially in the southern area). However, species such as Vulgichneumon takagii (Uchida, 1956) from Amamioshima and Vulgichneumon okinawae sp. nov. from Okinawajima may be endemic to the island or semi-endemic to the island group to which they belong. It is noteworthy that the Ichneumoninae of the Ryukyu Archipelago do not include Stenichneumon Thomson, 1893, which has several species and relatively abundant populations in mainland of Japan (Hokkaido, Honshu, Shikoku and Kyushu) and Taiwan, located at both ends of the Ryukyu Archipelago. This may be due to the limiting factor of their biology such as host prefercences.	en	Riedel, Matthias, Watanabe, Kyohei (2025): Contribution to the Ichneumoninae (Hymenoptera, Ichneumonidae) of the Ryukyu Archipelago, Japan.
