The species retained as Geomys breviceps can be found as a small, isolated population from Morehouse Parish in northeastern Louisiana. 03E2879C0773047F3076FEC2B9BB589E.taxon	description	Microtus ochrogaster are known from one location in southwestern Louisiana (Iowa, Calcasieu Parish). These specimens were collected by Vernon Bailey in 1899 with vouchers deposited in NMNH and LSUMZ. Bailey originally assigned the specimens as M. ludovicianus primarily due to their isolation (> 800 km) from other populations of M. ochrogaster. However, Lowery (1974) decided to treat those specimens as a subspecies, M. o. ludovicianus, because up to that point no one had examined morphological differences between the populations and thus saw no justification for providing them species rank. Since the 1930 ’ s Lowery and many others (including some of the current authors) have set traps in the general vicinity of Bailey’s original field site and have yielded no captures of M. ochrogaster. Recent phylogenetic work suggested a high amount of taxonomic uncertainly surrounding the specimens from Louisiana in so much as they may represent a separate species (Robinson 2020). Microtus pinetorum Le Conte, 1830 Woodland Vole Microtus pinetorum are found in the northern parishes and parishes directly west of the Mississippi River in eastern Louisiana. 03E2879C076D046132FFFE9CBBE45DD0.taxon	description	Bassariscus astutus are known from only a few records in northern and southcentral Louisiana. Lowery (1974) reported two specimens and two nonvouchered records of B. astutus. Since then, Hoffman and Chauhan (2020) reported one additional specimen record from Lafayette Parish in 1977. In 2022, a single individual was found in a stack of concrete blocks from a lumber yard in Church Point, Acadia Parish. It was determined that the concrete blocks had originated in Texas and were just recently delivered (Michael Seymour, Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries, personal communication). Although this would constitute a parish record, given the circumstances of its arrival, it seems more likely its presence in Louisiana was the result of incidental transport and not natural dispersal.	en	Hoffman, Justin D., Lester, Courtney, Doucet, Darian, Iguwe, Damilola (2024): UPDATED CHECKLIST AND DISTRIBUTION Of WILD TERRESTRIAL MAMMALS IN LOUISIANA. 03E2879C076C046032F5FD91BDDC5D9E.taxon	description	Records of Spilogale interrupta are restricted to extreme southwestern Louisiana in Cameron and Calcasieu parishes. Lowery (1974) regarded all spotted skunks as S. putorius, however recent molecular evidence clearly showed that specimens west of the Mississippi River in Louisiana belong to S. interrupta (McDonough et al. 2022). The authors indicated that the Mississippi River serves as a barrier to gene flow between the two species. No new parish records of S. interrupta have been reported since Lowery (1974).	en	Hoffman, Justin D., Lester, Courtney, Doucet, Darian, Iguwe, Damilola (2024): UPDATED CHECKLIST AND DISTRIBUTION Of WILD TERRESTRIAL MAMMALS IN LOUISIANA.
