Diagnosis. Body parallel sided, clothed with semi–erect hairs. Head declivous, basally with two iridescent areas. Eyes setting away from anterior margin of pronotum. Antennae robust, fourth segment whitish yellow. Pronotum trapezoidal, lacking collar and middle transverse impression, lateral margins blunt, not explanate. Scutellum flat and finely punctate. Clavus with 3 rows of punctures. Fore femur armed with 3–4 long slender spines and 1–3 small thorn–like spines.

Notes. Seven species were included in this genus worldwide ( Slater, 1964, Slater & O’Donnell, 1995), five in the Oriental Region, one common to the Oriental and Palearctic Regions ( Japan), one common to the Oriental and Ethiopian Regionn, and one in the Australian Region. The genus, and two species, Lamproceps antennatus and Lamproceps bipunctatus , are reported for the first time in China.
