Lectotype (Soreng in Cafferty & al. in Taxon 49: 254. 2000): Herb. Linn. No. 87.17, right specimen ( LINN) .

Current name: Poa annua L. ( Poaceae ).

Note: Clayton (in Milne-Redhead & Polhill, Fl. Trop. E. Africa, Gramineae 1: 49. 1970) and a number of later authors indicated unspecified material at LINN as “Type” but failed to distinguish between several possible specimens, evidently not from a single gathering, there. Veldkamp (in Blumea 38: 421. 1994) indicated, with uncertainty ( “?”), the right-hand specimen on Herb. Linn. 87.17 ( LINN) as the holotype but, in order to eliminate any uncertainty, Soreng formalised this choice.
