Type Locality: Mexico, Veracruz, Mt. Orizaba.

Vernacular Names: Mexican Long-nosed Bat.

Synonyms: Leptonycteris longala Stains 1957 .

Distribution: SE Arizona, S New Mexico, and W Texas ( USA) to S Mexico and Guatemala.

Conservation: U.S. ESA – Endangered; IUCN 2003 and IUCN / SSC Action Plan (2001) – Endangered.

Discussion: Does not include yerbabuenae ; see Watkins et al. (1972) and Hall (1981). See Hensley and Wilkins (1988).
