TYPES. Tenthredo kaszabi Muche, 1965a: 244 –246. Holotype Ƥ ( Fig. 24 View FIGURE 24 ). Type locality not stated precisely; data for the complete type material: “ 58 km nordwestlich von Ulan Baator 110 m [sic!], 9. VII. 1964. 126 km nördlich von Ulan Baator, 1100 m, 7. VII. 1964. Central aimak, südöstlich von somon Bajancogt, 1600 m ”. Examined ( Fig. 24 View FIGURE 24 ). Type locality: “ Mongolia, Central Aimak 58 km NW v. Ulan-Baator 1200 m.”
DISCUSSION. Tenthredo mesomela is a widely distributed species in the Palaearctic region. Regarding the differences between T. kaszabi and T. mesomela Muche (1965) wrote: “Die neue Art gleicht der Tenthredo mesomelas L., unterscheidet sich jedoch durch die anders gebildeten Fühler, abweichenden Valven und anderes Proportionsmaß.” The “Valven” refer to the male genitalia, which, although not directly relevant to discussion of the female holotype, do not significantly differ from mesomela males. The antennae of the holotype are slender, as is usual in mesomela . Finally, it remains unclear which character or characters Muche intended to point out with “anderes Proportionsmaß”. I found it impossible to find any character state which does not fall within the range of variability found in mesomela .
