Evania platensis Brèthes, 1913: 36 View in CoL original description, male, MACN; De Santis, 1967: 92, catalog of Argentinian species; Deans, 2005: 40, catalog of World species.

Evania (Evania) platensis, Hedicke 1939: 21 View in CoL , catalog of World species.

Material examined: one male (lectotype, here designated) “ A. Zotta, Buenos Aires, 8.XII.1905 / Evania platensis Br. / TYPUS / MACN-En 6231 / Evania platensis Brètehs LECTOTIPO, Des. Martinez 2009 ; one male (paralectotype) “ A. Zotta, Buenos Aires, 8.XII.1905 / 10 / Evania platensis Brèth. / TYPUS / MACN-En 6232 / Evania platensis PARALECTOTIPO, Des. Martinez 2009 .

Remarks. In the original description Brèthes specifically stated that he had studied one male from Buenos Aires collected by A. Zotta in 1905. Two specimens bear almost identical data on the labels and fit in Brèthes’s description, therefore they are considered syntypes and a lectotype is here designated. The lectotype bears the original label handwritten by Brèthes reading “ Evania platensis ”, the paralectotype bears a small label with the number 10, which corresponds to the name Evania platensis in Brethes’s original notes.
