Remarks. Soft parts of this species were described by Okubo (1979b) on specimens

from the Inland Sea of Japan and determined by him as Propontocypris (Propontocypris) attenuata ( Brady, 1868) . Ishizaki (1963, 1968) determined two different species from the Miocene of Ishikawa Prefecture and from recent bottom sediments of Uranouci Bay, Kochi Prefecture, Japan as Propontocypris attenuata ( Brady, 1868) . There is no doubt, that the forms mentioned above are not conspecific to P. attenuata described by Brady (1868) from Mauritius region.
