Munidopsis longimanus ( A. Milne-Edwards, 1880)

Munidopsis longimanus has been reported as Elasmonotus longimanus and Munidopsis longimana (see Baba et al. 2008) from the Gulf of Mexico to Colombia in depths of 292 to 1281 m ( Chace 1942; Navas et al. 2003). The specimens used in this analysis were from the Caribbean and the Gulf of Mexico in depths of 360 to 1066 m. Thirty-four males (CW from 4.2 to 8.9 mm), six non-ovigerous females (CW from 3.8 to 8.4 mm), and 13 ovigerous females were measured (CW from 5.0 to 9.0 mm). Non-ovigerous females and females were not significantly different in size (t-test, df = 17, t = 0.541, p = 0.596); the sizes of males and females were not significantly different (t-test, df = 51, t = -1.111, p = 0.272). Females had between one and 62 eggs, and the average egg diameter ranged from 0.87 to 1.24 mm. Fecundity was significantly correlated with CW (R2 = 0.705, p = 0.005) ( Fig. 10 View FIGURE 10 D); the average egg diameter was not correlated with CW (R2 = 0. 0 483, p = 0.601). Specimens were collected in all months except February and March; ovigerous specimens were found in every month but February, March, June, September, and October ( Fig. 13 View FIGURE 13 B).
