Uroptychus brevis was collected from Bermuda and from the Gulf of Mexico in depths of 878 to 1073 m; this species has previously been reported in the Gulf of Mexico in depths from 677 to 1107 m ( Chace 1942). No ovigerous females were observed for this species. Only two males were found in the collections. One male was collected in January (CW = 5.9 mm) from Bermuda from a depth of 878 m; one male was collected in March (CW = 4.6 mm) from the Gulf of Mexico from a depth of 1073 m ( Fig. 2 View FIGURE 2 ).
