Remarks. The specimens agree well with the type description (Ahyong 2001). The abdominal carinae are spined as follows: submedian 5–6, intermediate (2)3–6, lateral 1–6, marginal 1–5. Quollastria kapala closely resembles Q. fossulata ( Moosa, 1986) , described from the Philippines, but differs in lacking the distinct rows of carinae on the dorsolateral surface of the telson in adults. Juveniles of the two species could easily be confused, however, because the dorsolateral telson carinae are poorly developed in juvenile O. fossulata .

Distribution. Australia, New Caledonia, and now from the Philippines; 131–411 m depth.
