Diagnostic characters. Ablabesmyia commata sp. n. differs from other species by the combination of the following characters: antepronotal lobe with 15–19 setae, femora with 3 bands, middle and hind tibiae with 4 bands, tapered megaseta, grooved aedeagal blade, dorsal lobe club-shaped with fringe.
Etymology. From Latin, comma, meaning comma, referring to the shape of the aedeagal blade.
