Rhabdostyla vernalis Stokes, 1887

Record on hydrachnid mites: Ramadan (2004) reported Rhabdostyla vernalis  on adult mites Unionicola tetrafurcatus  associated with mussel Caelatura aegyptiaca  collected from a site on the eastern bank of the River Nile, north of Sohag University Campus, Egypt. The highest mean density of ciliates was recorded on the fourth leg of the mite and declined gradually towards the first leg, which recorded the lowest mean number and attached to the bases of the setae on the legs of the mite ( Ramadan 2004).

Other hosts: Аttached to the Cypris  and Cyclops  in the pools in the early spring ( Kudo 1931); on the copepod Eucyclops agilis  (cf. Henebry & Ridgeway 1979).
