Pachyprotasis scalaris Malaise, 1945: 145 –146. [female], type locality: Kambaiti at 2000 m, Myanmar. Pachyprotasis scalaris: Saini 2007: 81 –82, figs 161, 164, 169, 173, 187, 193, 201.

Material examined. 1 Ƥ, Jiuzhaigou, Sichuan Province (103°54ʹE, 33°11ʹN, alt. 2500 m), 16.07.2001, Meicai Wei leg.

Distribution. China (Sichuan) ( Fig. 109 View FIGURE 109 ); Myanmar, India.

Female ( Figs 25, 26 View FIGURES 25 – 28 ): Body length 8 mm. Head muddy yellow, black are: apical half of frons continuing with ocellar area, median part on upper part of occiput, antenna except ventral sides of scape and pedicel; dorsal part of body black, muddy yellow are: pronotum except median, a V-shaped spot on lateral sides of median mesoscutal lobe, a central butterfly-shaped spot and lateral margins on lateral mesoscutal lobe, mesoscutellum, posttergum, metascutellum, spots on metapostnotum, an extremely narrow band each on posterior margin of terga 1–5, tergum 10 entirely; body ventrally muddy yellow, black are: mesopleural suture, apex and dorsal margin of ovipositor sheath. Legs muddy yellow, black are: a narrow stripe each on dorsal part of four front legs from apex of femur to claw, a broad inner band on apical 3/7 of metafemur, metatibia except ventral center, metatarsus except base of each tarsomere; other part of metatarsus pale brown. Wings hyaline, fore wing vein C, R1, 2r and stigma pale green, other veins black. Punctures on dorsal part of head rather small, shallow and scattered, microsculpture dense, interspaces distinctly shiny; punctures on mesepisternum shallow, minute; mesoscutellum and posttergum polished, punctures nearly absent, microsculpture dense, interspaces shiny. Malar space 2 times diameter of median ocellus; median fovea ditch-like, shallow; postocellar area slightly elevated, 1.5 times as broad as long ( Figs 52 View FIGURES 46 – 52 , 69 View FIGURES 68 – 73 ); antenna shorter than combined length of thorax and abdomen, flagellomere 1 about 1.1 times length of flagellomere 2; mesoscutellum slightly elevated, with acute lateral ridge. Ovipositor sheath as long as hind tarsomere 1 in lateral view, valvula 3 narrow at apex and slightly longer than valvifer 2 in lateral view. Lancet with 20 serrulae (Fig. 82), base of each serrula slightly elevated, middle serrulae each with 2 basal denticles and 4–6 distal denticles (Fig. 94).
